Block party draws neighbors and friends from all
around
A glorious day for the block party -- no rain fell
on Saturday, June 26, 2004. Val helped close the street -- thanks
to Doug and Joanne for picking up the barricades.
The raucous parade
brought people out to their front porches and signalled the start
of the party.
Folks
gathered, chatted and ate.
With Stuart as emcee, the talent
show included renditions of "Itsy-Bitsy Spider,"
"Bob the Builder," maybe "Puff the Magic Dragon"
and other haunting ballads, accompanied by Ritt on keyboard and
Joe on bass. Members of Tongue 'N' Groove rocked the street with
a few ditties. Don told some jokes to an appreciative audience.
The evening wound up with movies in the street,
including the Beatles' "Hard Days Night." Thanks, Erik.

The food presented at the block party is
always an amazing spread, and there is always enough to go around.
